After having his February release from New York state prison turned into a stay in federal prison, it looks like Ja Rule’s freedom is finally in sight. As hoped, Ja’s stay for tax evasion will indeed be a short one, with a planned release date just five months away. According to the Federal Bureau, Ja Rule will be released from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center on July 28.

There’s no word yet on what this means for the long-postponed Renaissance Project and accompanying “40 Days, 40 Nights” tour, originally planned to kick off after his February release date.
